Stories of irresponsible, absent fathers encountering children they never knew they had or just generally neglected, then gradually redeeming themselves and forging real relationships are so reliably consistent, instantly recognizable, and frequently affecting that they seem to arise from some collective psychological need. The first trailer for Janie Jones makes no bones about being just such a story. The father, played by Alessandro Nivola, is a vain, borderline washed-up rock star, and the child is Abigail Breslin as a daughter he never knew about who is suddenly a part of his life on the road. There's nothing groundbreaking here, and you can get a good sense of exactly what the film consists of, but it nonetheless looks like a solid story, well told, with good performances and well-done music.
Next year is going to be a busy one for Relativity Media, with no less than three films hitting theaters in the first half of 2012. The studio already announced the thriller House at the End of the Street, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue for a February 3rd release, and has now added a high profile thriller and an epic ensemble comedy for debuts next Spring. The Untitled Raven Project, starring John Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe, is set for a March 9, 2012 release date, while the Untitled Farrelly/Wessler Comedy, which boasts one of the most formidable comedic casts ever assembled, will close out the season on April 13, 2012. For more info on both of these films, read on.

The first time Nicolas Cage caught my attention was in the classic 80s flick Valley Girl, and he was totally awesome. This funny, sweet look at a strange romance between a punk rocker (Cage) and a valley girl (Deborah Foreman) is a cult classic for good reason. The script is great, and the chemistry between Cage and his leading lady, Foreman (April Fool’s Day, Waxwork), is impressive. Valley Girl really encouraged people to take notice of what this guy could do.
Spike’s “Scream 2010 Awards” will feature the reunion of Back To The Future stars Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, and Elisabeth Shue, as they take to the stage in honor of the film’s 25th Anniversary.
In order to stir crowd excitement, Fox re-shot the original teaser trailer, and while there's not all that much to discuss here, I‘ll be damned if it‘s not just as awesome as the original. And that's all that really need be said!
The Back To The Future trilogy hits DVD and Blu-ray on October 26th, 2010.
Don’t miss the new teaser below!
There is a certain kind of audience that will really enjoy a movie like Piranha 3D, basically anybody going to see a movie about man eating fish. While many critics will tear it apart, like a piece of flesh in piranha infested waters, it’s hard to really trash a movie that is so ridiculously extreme. From the trailers alone, you see a bunch of hot girls on spring break with possibly hundreds of piranha attacking. From that sentence alone it’s quite clear that you are going to have nudity and gore (we’re not counting movies made for SyFy here). So get ready to hear words like ridiculous, exploitive, disgusting, sick, and even offensive. In other words, dig in because this is one of the few flicks this summer that actually delivered what it promised.
It was so long ago. She was young and pretty and she said those words that made me smile.
“Don’t f*ck with the babysitter!”
And that was after the cutest little dance to “Then He Kissed Me” by The Ronettes at the beginning of one of greatest films to many a young film fan… Adventures in Babysitting.
Check out the exclusive interview with the cast of Piranha 3D from JimmyO!
