Any real discussion of the great cinematic artists of the 20th Century really has to include Stanley Kubrick, the auteur behind classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dr Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Spartacus. The director's most famous unrealized project was a hugely epic biopic of French Emperor and military general Napoleon Bonaparte. Though we won't ever see his vision realized, his unproduced screenplay is freely available online.
Legendary Hollywood icon Tony Curtis, born Bernard Schwartz, has passed away peacefully at his home, reports a representative of his daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis. The cause of death has not been released at this point. Curtis was a well rounded actor with an impressive résumé that included plenty of television work as well as feature films.
Whew! Comic Con is over and I still feel the excitement and pressure from being a part of this massive experience. It was so insane that it makes a hangover look like a good time! And just like a hangover, you feel kinda, sorta awesome getting there!
But the beauty of the Con is the absolute enthusiasm folks have for the comics, the movies, the TV shows, everything that is a part of our culture. For some it becomes almost a religious experience. I still have my Buffy the Vampire Slayer shrine. All hail to Priestess Buffy! (I guess this is why those freaks were picketing this year.)
