Jay Roach is one of the most talented directors in Hollywood. He has an uncanny ability to turn something tragic into laugh out loud humor. This is especially evident in his latest feature Dinner for Schmucks starring Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. Schmucks is available now on Blu-ray and DVD.

Jay’s resume includes some of the most popular comedies ever made, including the Austin Powers franchise, Meet the Parents and its first sequel, Meet the Fockers. He is also responsible for the underrated gem, Mystery, Alaska featuring Russell Crowe and Burt Reynolds.

In this Spotlight on Jay Roach, we asked him about what advice he had for young filmmakers. The subject of YouTube came up, as did the importance of a good story and script. The director had incredible insight on the challenges young filmmakers struggle with in this day and age.

We’ll have more videos from this talented filmmaker coming soon.
