IAR: What's it been like shooting Guardians of the Galaxy with James Gunn?

Karen Gillan: It's been the best. It's been the most fun ever. We had an amazing four months making it. I shaved my head, which was really fun. I got to work out, which I've never done before. It was just a really cool experience to work on a film of that scale.

What can you say about your character?

Gillan: I play a character called Nebula. She is the female villain of the film. She teams up with Lee Pace who is the male villain. She is very sadistic and evil, but I like to think for a very valid reason.

Do you have any scenes with Benico Del Toro in the movie?

Gillan: No Benicio, but me and Zoe Saldana, who is the female lead, have a very cool sequence together.

How does it feel to be part of the Marvel cinematic universe?

Gillan: It's very exciting. When I first joined they gave me a letter saying "Welcome to the Marvel universe," which I will be getting framed.

Is there a possibility that you will appear in other Marvel movies?

Gillan: Not that I'm aware of, but let's not rule it out.

What was it like teaming with Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios on Guardians of the Galaxy?

James Gunn: It's been great. I have an enormous, enormous respect for these guys. I really think Kevin Feige is a genius. I think that he balances out some of my weaknesses and at the same time allows me to be fully myself in creating a movie that people are going to be shocked when they see how unique it is.

I recently had a chance to talk to Chris Pratt and he told me that he thinks Vin Diesel is going to be "great" as Groot. What was your experience like working with Diesel?

Gunn: He didn't tell you that. Did he?

He did. He talked about how he thinks "his voice is an incredible tool" and that "he is going to do a great job voicing that role." Can you confirm that Vin Diesel is playing Groot in the film?

Gunn: We'll see. I can confirm that I had a phone conversation with Vin yesterday. That's all I can say.

A jet pilot (Pratt) gets stranded in space, and must unite a diverse team of aliens to form a squad capable of defeating cosmic threats.
