Opening in theaters on December 6th is the new thriller from director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) entitled Out of the Furnace, which was co-written by Cooper and Brad Ingelsby (The Dynamiter). The film truly features an all-star cast that includes Academy Award-winners Christian Bale (The Fighter), and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Academy Award-nominees Casey Affleck (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford), Willem Dafoe (Platoon), Woody Harrelson (The People vs. Larry Flynt), and Sam Shepard (The Right Stuff), and popular actress Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness).

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Christian Bale to talk about his work on Out of the Furnace. The Oscar-winning actor discussed his new film, Philbrick's visit to the set, Bale's research for his role in Braddock, Pennsylvania while shooting The Dark Knight Rises in Pittsburgh, what Sam Shepard said about working with Bale, why Bale liked working with Shepard, collaborating with writer/director Scott Cooper, and why Cooper would not have made the film without Bale's participation.
