EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Music Supervisor and Original Songwriter Bret McKenzie Talks 'Muppets Most Wanted'

Opening in theaters on March 21st is Muppets Most Wanted, which is a sequel to 2011’s The Muppets. The movie is was once again directed by James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords), based on a script by Bobin and returning screenwriter Nicolas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), and features music by Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords), who one an Academy Award for his work on the first film. Muppets Most Wanted stars Ricky Gervais (Night at the Museum), Tina Fey (Admission), and Ty Burell (Mr. Peabody & Sherman), as well as Kermit the FrogMiss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Sam the EagleAnimalRowlf the Dog, Gonzo the Great, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, The Swedish Chef, Scooter, Walter, Crazy Harry, Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem, and introducing Constantine the World's Most Dangerous Frog. 

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of sitting down with original songwriter and music supervisor Bret McKenzie to talk about his work on Muppets Most Wanted. The Academy Award-winner discussed his new sequel, having two frogs in the film, not trying to top his Oscar win, his personal Kermit hotline, the Muppet song writing process, recording demos doing the Muppet voices, creating a song for Ty Burell and Sam the Eagle, his Flight of the Conchords partner Jemaine Clement's role in the project, why this can unofficially be considered a Flight of the Conchords movie, how Ray Liotta had never heard of Flight of the Conchords before, Ricky Gervais, Miss Piggy and Celine Dion's duet, his duel role as music supervisor and original song writer, his all-time favorite Muppets musical moment, wanting to jam with Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem, and getting a call from Kermit to make a third film.

While on a grand world tour, The Muppets find themselves wrapped into an European jewel-heist caper headed by a Kermit the Frog look-alike (Constantine) and his dastardly sidekick (Gervais).

Muppets Most Wanted opens in theaters on March 21st.
