EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Michael Rooker Talks 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Opening in theaters on August 1st is Guardians of the Galaxy, which is based on the popular Marvel Comics series. The film is co-writen and directed by James Gunn (Super), and stars Chris Pratt (Delivery Man) as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora, David Bautista (The Man with the Iron Fists) as Drax the Destroyer, Benicio Del Toro (Savages) as The Collector, Karen Gillan (Oculus) as Nebula, Michael Rooker (Days of Thunder) as Yondu, Lee Pace (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) as Roman the Accuser, John C. Reilly (Wreck-It Ralph) as Rhomann Dey, Djimon Hounsou (Constantine) as Korath the Pursuer, and Glenn Close (TV's Damages) as Nova Prime, as well as the voices of Bradley Cooper (The Words) as Rocket Raccoon, and Vin Diesel (Riddick) as Groot. 

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the great Michael Rooker to talk about his work on Guardians of the Galaxy. The veteran actor discussed his new movie, reuniting with his Super director James Gunn, making a Marvel movie, researching his role, playing an ambiguously evil character, Yondu's parental feeling's for Star-Lord, working with Chris Pratt, making a sequel, and possibly a Yondu spin-off.

In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill (Pratt) finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan (Pace).

Guardians of the Galaxy opens in theaters on August 1st.
