Beginners tells the story of Oliver (McGregor), a man trying to deal with two stunning revelations from his seventy-five year-old-father Hal (Plummer): that he is gay and terminally ill. The film is based on the true-life coming out of director Mike Mills' father at the age of seventy-five, five years before his death.

Beginners opens in theaters on June 3rd.
