This month's The Raven is no ordinary thriller.  The film stars John Cusack as inventor of the detective novel and American literary legend Edgar Allan Poe, with the author hunting down a vicious murderer whose crimes are patterned after Poe's prose and poetry.

Such a uniquely fictionalized historical story deserves an appropriately singular behind-the-scenes video, and now it has one thanks to the one and only Olga Kay.

Most behind-the-scenes peeks are by-the-numbers promotions or dry documentary-style technical examinations, but YouTube sensation Kay brings her own exuberant sense of fun to the set of The Raven.  Kay gets the 1800s treatment in a wardrobe fitting, checks out some grisly neck wound makeup effects, goes for a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, and talks to the film's director and stars, including Alice Eve and Luke Evans.

Director James McTeigue cut his teeth as the first assistant director on all three films in The Matrix trilogy before going on to direct V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin.  Here, he brings his unique visual style and energetic command of action to period-era Baltimore, where a fictionalized version of Poe pursues a horrifying nemesis.  The screenplay is written by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare.

John Cusack stars as Poe, while Alice Eve is his lady love Emily.  Luke Evans plays Detective Fields, a constable who is initially suspicious of Poe but becomes his principal ally in pursuit of the killer.  The supporting cast includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Brendan Gleeson, Kevin McNally, Pam Ferris, Brendan Coyle, and Sam Hazeldine.

The Raven arrives in theaters nationwide on April 27th.

Full Disclosure: The Raven was produced by Relativity Media, iamRogue's parent company.
