Opening in theaters on July 27th is the new documentary from filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul called Searching for Sugar Man. The film attempts to shed light on the mysterious life of '1970s musician Rodriguez

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had a chance to sit down with filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul and musician Rodriguez to talk about the making of Searching for Sugar Man. The two men discussed the film, the process of making it, how Bendjelloul became familiar with Rodriguez's story, Rodriguez's own feelings on having a documentary made about his life, his pilgrimage to South Africa, his career redemption, his family, what the film says about the human spirit, and what the future holds musically for Rodriguez.
