Opening in theaters on November 9th is the 23rd film in the James Bond series entitled Skyfall, which was directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty). The movie stars Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace) in his third appearance as 007, along with an excellent cast that includes Academy Award-winner Judi Dench (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Naomie Harris (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End), newcomer Berenice Marlohe, Ben Whishaw (Cloud Atlas), Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2), Albert Finney (The Bourne Legacy), and Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) as the film's villain.
IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the rare pleasure of sitting down with Daniel Craig to talk about his work on Skyfall. The popular actor discussed the new movie, what elements of the Bond mythology he wanted to incorporate into Skyfall, the importance of having Sam Mendes direct the film, why Javier Bardem makes the perfect Bond villain, reuniting with his Layer Cake co-star Ben Whishaw, the new relationship between Bond and Q, the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise, and how it feels as an actor to carry on the 007 legacy for a new generation.
