When director Don Coscarelli's cult classic Bubba Ho-tep was rereleased in 2002, the end credits teased a possible sequel/prequel entitled Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires. Since the success of the original, Coscarelli has been trying to make the long rumored film, which would center on the relationship between the franchise's lead character Elvis Presley and his real-life manager Colonel Tom Parker. Academy Award-nominee Paul Giamatti (Sideways) has been attached to play the role of Parker, however, actor Bruce Campbell who portrayed "the King" in the first film, has stated that he will not return to the franchise due to creative differences. That news lead to the announcement that Sons of Anarchy actor Ron Perlman was interested in taking over the role of Presley

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had a chance to sit down with writer/director Don Coscarelli and Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti to discuss their upcoming film John Dies at the End, which opens in theaters on January 25th, 2013. While we will run our conversation with them about John Dies at the End closer to the film's release, we wanted to let you know now what they had to say about the status of Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires. The two talented men discussed the status of the long rumored project, Giamatti's interest in playing Parker, how the film would shine a light on the relationship between Presley and the Colonel, and Perlman's interest in playing Elvis.
