Opening in theaters on July 5th is the new comedy-drama The Way, Way Back from Academy Award-winning screenwriters Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Descendants), which marks their directorial debut. In addition to starring Faxon and Rash, the film features an excellent cast that includes Steve Carell (Despicable Me 2), Toni Collette (Mental), Sam Rockwell (Seven Psychopaths), Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids), Allison Janney (The Help), AnnaSophia Robb (Soul Surfer), Rob Corddry (Warm Bodies), Amanda Peet (Identity Thief), and newcomer Liam James

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of sitting down exclusively with Steve Carell and Allison Janney to talk about their work on The Way, Way Back. The two actors discussed their new film, its tone, balancing comedy and drama, Janney's over-the-top character, how the role exhausted her, why Carell's character is such a jerk, getting angry fan mail, and working with young actor Liam James
