Opening in theaters on July 31st is the 3D family comedy The Smurfs 2, which is a sequel to the popular 2011 film based on the popular comic-book series created by Belgian artist Peyo. The new movie stars Neil Patrick Harris (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas), Jayma Mays (TV's Glee), Brendan Gleeson (The Guard), and Hank Azaria (Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian), as well as the voice talents of Katy Perry as Smurfette , Alan Cumming as Gutsy Smurf, Fred Armisen as Brainy Smurf, Anton Yelchin as Clumsy Smurf, George Lopez as Grouchy Smurf, John Oliver as Vanity Smurf, Christina Ricci as Vexy Naughty, J.B. Smoove as Hackus Naughty, and the late great comedian Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf.
IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada and sitting down with Hank Azaria to talk about his work on The Smurfs 2. The talented comedic actor discussed his new film, playing the iconic character of Gargamel for a second time, doing physical comedy, his fear of heights, acting opposite the Smurfs, working with a cat, the legacy of legendary comedian Jonathan Winters, and which Smurf is his favorite.

The Smurfs team up with their human friends (Harris, Mayes, and Gleeson) to rescue Smurfette (Perry), who has been kidnapped by Gargamel (Azaria) since she knows a secret spell that can turn the evil sorcerer's newest creation - creatures called the Naughties - into real Smurfs.
The Smurfs 2 opens in theaters on July 31st.
