Opening in theaters in Los Angeles and New York on August 16th is the new romantic comedy Austenland from director and co-screenwriter Jerusha Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), based on the novel of the same name by co-screenwriter Shannon Hale. The film was produced by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer, and stars an excellent cast that includes Keri Russell (Mission: Impossible III, TV's The Americans), JJ Feild (Captain America: The First Avenger), Jennifer Coolidge (American Reunion), Georgia King (One Day), James Callis (TV's Battlestar Galactica), Jane Seymour (Love, Wedding, Marriage), and Academy Award-winner Bret McKenzie (The Muppets).
IAR's very own Heather Newgen recently had the pleasure of sitting down with JJ Feild and Bret McKenzie to talk about their work on Austenland, as well as McKenzie's work on the upcoming sequel Muppets Most Wanted. The popular actors discussed their new movie, their characters, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, working on a female driven film, director Jerusha Hess, shooting at a working airport, meeting on set for the first time, Jane Austen, what they are personally obsessed with, Muppets Most Wanted, and how McKenzie is going to follow up his Oscar winning work from the first film.
