Opening in theaters on June 1st is the new black-comedy from director Jesse Baget (Breathless) called Cellmates. The film stars a cast of talented actors that includes Tom Sizemore (Heat, Saving Private Ryan, Bringing Out the Dead), Hector Jimenez (Nacho Libre), Kevin Farley (The Waterboy), newcomer Olga Segura, and Stacey Keach (American History X).

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had a chance to sit down with actor Hector Jimenez and actress Olga Segura to discuss their work on Cellmates. They talked about the new movie, it's complex comedic yet intelligent tone, comparisons to Coen brothers' films, how Segura got involved in the project, the short filming schedule, Baget's shooting style, filming Stacey Keach's scenes without the actor present, wide shots, Emilio and Leroy's unique friendship, Madalena's attraction to Leroy, what happens to the characters after the movie ends, and researching the classic TV series Ben Casey.

They talked about the new movie, it's complex comedic tone, Bubba and Leroy's relationship, Farley's simple approach to acting, Sizemore's love for acting, how he made his detestable character redeeming, and why he ultimatley destroyed Stacey Keach's "actor's soul."

The film stars Ferrell in a completely non-English speaking role along with an excellent cast of Mexican and American actors including Gael Garcia Bernal (Y tu mama tambien), Diego Luna (Milk), Genesis Rodriguez (Man on a Ledge), Efren Ramirez (Napoleon Dynamite), Hector Jimenez (Nacho Libre), and Nick Offerman (21 Jump Street).

The hilarious actor discussed the film, his character, the challenges of making a Spanish-language movie, how he learned the complicated language, what new language he wants to master for his next film, ideas for possible sequels, Armando's love for his brother and the affair he has with his brother's wife, what qualities are important in a Will Ferrell character, and the film's Carpenters inspired end-credit musical number.
