Opening in theaters on May 25th is the third installment of the extremely popular science fiction comedy franchise Men in Black, this time entitled Men in Black 3. The new film once again stars Grammy-winner Will Smith (Ali) and Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Agents J and K, respectively, and was also directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Get Shorty) who helmed the first two installments. In addition to the return of Smith and Jones, the new movie also features Oscar-nominee Josh Brolin (Milk) as a younger version of Agent K, as well as performances from two-time Oscar-winner Emma Thompson (Love Actually), Alice Eve (ATM), Jemaine Clement (HBO's Flight of the Conchords), Nicole Scherzinger (Fox's The X Factor), David Rasche (United 93).

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of sitting down with makeup effects artist Rick Baker (The Wolfman, The Nutty Professor, Ed Wood) to discuss his work on Men in Black 3. The legendary makeup artist talked about the new movie, creating the '60s era aliens and his inspirations for them, why setting the film in the '1960s helped keep the third installment fresh, advances in CGI since the first movie, the importance of using both practical as well as CGI effects, working with director Barry Sonnenfeld for the third time, having to make two different versions of the film's villain, and why Harry & the Hendersons holds a special place in his heart.

James Cameron doesn't do anything unless he's doing it big.  The guy just doesn't do half-measures.  I guess it makes perfect sense, then, that the writer-director is going to be pretty single-minded about making the Avatar sequels, of which there might be one more than we expected.  Cameron's so all-about Pandora that from here on out, he won't be developing any films that don't take place in the Avatar universe.

Since he reinvigorated the Mission: Impossible franchise with the nigh-universally lauded Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, a big question has been just what Brad Bird would direct next, as his second live-action feature film. Anyone hoping that the animation maestro-turned-blockbuster-live-action helmer would get his passion project 1906 off the ground next might have to wait, as Brad Bird has signed on to Disney and Damon Lindelof's super-secret 1952.

Hey look, a news item unrelated to The Avengers which is nonetheless related to The Avengers now simply by virtue of me having mentioned it!  Four new stills from Prometheus are viewable online today, and you're probably thinking that you know just what they'll look like, given the consistency of past images from Ridley Scott's Alien quasi-prequel.  But these are different from the rest.  Well, mostly.

Last week, Sony Pictures released one of those teasers-for-a-teaser giving a glimpse at the theatrical trailer for its remake of Paul Verhoeven's 1990 crazyfest Total Recall.  Just as was promised at the time, the full trailer debuted today during the NBA that saw the Boston Celtics throw down on the Miami Heat, so of course the trailer is now available online.

Other than being ridiculously attractive thespians who are both in very good places with their respective careers, what do Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum have in common?  There are probably some other things, but of greatest importance is that they've been offered the two lead roles of Jupiter Ascending.  What is Jupiter Ascending, you ask?  Well, it's being kept oh-so mysterious, but it's a new science fiction film from Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski.

At WonderCon in Anaheim this weekend, IAR's Jami Philbrick had the opportunity to snag an exclusive video interview with Maggie Grace before she went onstage for the Lockout panel.  The actress promised that the science fiction film is a uniquely fun action experience, and her claim was supported by five minutes of footage screened during the Lockout event.  Now, that extended look at the film is available to view online, and it certainly does look like star Guy Pearce is having a blast.
