Opening in theaters on November 4th is the new Rock 'n' Roll comedy Killing Bono, based on Neil McCormick's 2003 memoir "Killing Bono: I was Bono's Doppelganger." The film is directed by Nick Hamm (Godsend) and stars an excellent cast of actors including Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), Robert Sheehan (Season of the Witch), Krysten Ritter (She's Out of My League), Martin McCann (My Boy Jack), and the late Pete Postlethwaite (The Usual Suspects) in his final film performance.

IAR's managing editor Jami Philbrick recently had a chance to sit down with the film's director Nick Hamm, and star Ben Barnes, to discuss Killing Bono. The director and actor spoke freely about the new film, the true life story it is based on, the traps of celebrity, and U2's reaction to the film.

The United Kingdom and these United States of America have long enjoyed a special relationship that comes with a certain shared history and language.  Part of that relationship involves sampling and incorporating each others' pop culture; England gave us The Office (which we then remade in our own image), we gave England The Wire.  This mutually beneficial sampling encompasses all media, including movies, television, music, and comedy.

Bill Bailey is an insanely popular comedian across the Atlantic, and he's familiar to Anglophiles on this side of the pond due to his work on the awesome British television series Spaced and Black Books, as well as films like Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's Hot Fuzz, as well as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where he played twin police sergeants and the voice of a doomed whale, respectively.

Last week, it was widely reported that Julie Taymor was being hustled out of her position as the director of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, the most expensive show in Broadway history.  Producer Michael Cohl and songwriter Bono, of U2, did indeed bring on a host of new members to the Spider-Man creative brain trust, including a new music supervisor and a comic book writer to work on the script.  The sacking of Taymor seemed almost inevitable, given the very public travails of the show so far.  According to Roger Friedman at Showbiz 411, however, Julie Taymor will retain her credits as director and co-writer of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.

Christopher Tierney is “fortunate to be alive”, says his father, Timothy Tierney, after the more than 20 feet fall at Monday’s performance of “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark”.

Tierney’s father recently spoke about his son’s accident to the New York Times. He claimed the 31-year-old actor and veteran dancer was falling headfirst, but he managed to land on his right side in the basement below the stage at the Foxwoods Theatre. It was during a performance where a safety tether to his harness malfunctioned during an acrobatic maneuver.

Rolling Stone quotes producer Michael Cohl, who says preview performances will start November 14th and opening night is scheduled for December 21st.

Fresh-faced Eve Hewson may have just nabbed the break of a lifetime, and it doesn't involve being rock and roll royalty: the young actress has just landed a co-starring role in the indie drama This Must Be The Place, which also stars Sean Penn and Frances McDormand. Hewson is U2 frontman Bono's daughter. (Fun fact! Bono's real name is Paul David Hewson.)
