Following the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that devastated Northern Japan last week, Warner Bros has announced that the studio will donate a percentage of the profits from the DVD and Blu Ray release of director Clint Eastwood's Hereafter directly to the Japanese Red Cross Society. The LA Times (via: THR)reports that, though the exact percentage is not known, the dollar amount will likely be approximately $1 million. This announcement marks the second time this week that the film, which stars Matt Damon, has made news in connection to the events in Japan.
Former legendary glam-rock outfit Queen lead guitarist and current astrophysicist Brian May reports that the screenplay for the biopic of late frontman Freddy Mercury has been turned in. The film does not yet have a director, but it does have a script by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, Hereafter) and Sacha Baron Cohen, of Borat and Ali G fame, set to play Mercury.

Talk about a prestigious cast - that's half a Harry Potter movie right there! Swedish director Tomas Alfredson (Let The Right One In) will be helming the picture, which is based on a 1974 novel by John Le Carre. Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon) wrote the adaptation.
